Realex Payments post strong financial results despite a challenging global economy. Highlights include a turnover of €6.57 million and a 6% rise in profit.

Online retailer Buy.com have announced they will be establishing a European Operations Center in Galway city center. This operations center will create 40 new jobs over the next four years in the area of multilingual customer support, online sales and marketing, finance and software design and development.

In a move to simplify their express checkout process Amazon are allowing shoppers to make purchases without the need to sign in with their usernames and passwords. Users will instead associate a 'PayPhrase' and a PIN to complete their purchase.

Obopay, who earlier this year partnered with Nokia to launch Nokia Money, have now announced their entrance to the online games market. Users can link their credit or debit card to their mobile phone number. They can then use their mobile number for making in-game purchases. The advantage for merchants is that users can 'stay, pay and play', they will no longer need to leave a game to make a payment on an external site.
